Layover Island is two travelogues in one: a parallel narration collapses two trips. A video documentation from Portugal to Poland is interspersed with a narrative poem from Cuba to Florida, as the narrator/videographer tries to make it for a last meeting with his dying grandmother, before getting stranded on Layover Island.
The video was commissioned by the festival Acht Brücken - Musik für Köln in 2017. It was presented with a live score by Scott Fields Ensemble's rendition of Samuel Beckett's play Rockaby, which also serves as the soundtrack of the video.
